Girl, put your records on!

Today, I looped my iTunes on Corinne Bailey's song entitled "Put Your Records On" and Sara Bareilles' "Uncharted". Both somehow started my day well. These songs never get old! It sets you in a good mood, makes you sing along, and reminds you to be nobody else other than yourself. Basically makes you feel great! :)

And listening to these songs before heading out, I definitely had a look in mind! I got inspired from Sara's looks. Her outfits are so feminine and simple. And when you say Sara Bareilles, you shouldn't miss out on the Fedora Hat! So I threw on a black one today :) Wore it with a Peach, pleated chiffon dress I bought from the SM Ladies Department Store. (So much beautiful dresses in affordable prices! You should definitely get one or more!)

And look! I found a photo of Sara that has a similar pose to mine. Quite close, that is. So much for "get that look", I just googled her photo after taking mine! :)

(And I felt a little bit artsy today. I couldn't help it, so I played with my set. Adding a sketchy rococo chair, vintage table and a phonograph, all in black and white. I've always wanted to own one!)

"Girl, put your records on, tell me your favorite song,
You go ahead, let your hair down"

Today, I went out early to drop my mom off to work and head straight to Starbucks to have breakfast. It's a "book and coffee" kind of day. The time where you can settle cozy in a couch, flip pages of your favorite books or magazines and sip a freshly warm brewed coffee made just for you.

Trying out the mirror-shot photo just like in Sara's Album Cover in "Kaleidoscope".

Here is a closer look on the dress, having a pleated bottom.

Identity

At some point in our lives, we get a little off the radar. We become inconsistent with some things, and we try to find our identities in any way possible. For the past few posts, I have been changing layouts, watermarks and styles. But hey, we have to get lost in order to find who we really are. An inconsistent breeze was my only relief from a state of confusion.

Let loose, and relax! One of my ways of relaxing is through dressing up. Try pulling off a lazy look by throwing on an over sized top, stockings, denim shorts and vintage boots. Or any pair of boots for that matter. As for me, I got the top and the boots from a thrift shop! Who would've known? You don't really have to spend so much to look good. It's how you bring it that makes you look at your best.

I'd like to thank my friend Kino for taking these lovely photos during a coffee session with the whole group at Starbucks! :) He is one of the talented people I know. We worked on a wedding project last month, and everything went great! :) I got the coolest teams to work with me! Thanks Southernlads for the videos and Camerae for the photos :)

Here are tips and ideas to get this look :)

Boots of different colors! It's up to you if you want to wear an ankle, mid or knee high boots :) I went for mid!

You could go with an over sized sweater, over sized shirt, or could grab any top from the Men's Section!

Stockings have a variety of colors. And there are plain and printed ones. Wear something that speaks of your personal style :)

Thanks for dropping by! One of the perks of a sweater weather ;) You get to play dress up!
Don't forget to hype this look on lookbook! :)

Desaturate

This is my first post using the new layout, something minimal. With more photos, few words and description layouts just like in magazine spreads.

Just keep it simple :) And drop by lookbook.nu to hype this look! :)
